"I'm beginning to learn that 95% OB
is not enough...and 85% is much
worse......but 75% is pretty good."

December 1...Friday...some snow...mild start for December
December 2-5...The snow is gone and our weather remains unusually mild. Daytime weather is above freezing and Thorson Pond remains free of ice. The large number of geese loafing on the pond are enjoying their retreat and not getting shot at. The adjacent corn field provides plenty of food and the large pine trees on the north shoreline forms a perfect wind break (safe, secure with a food source). During this time frame, I have wondered (somewhat) why I have not purchased a hunting license and set up a goose hunt. It would be easy and my son would help. I have become content with all the excellent memories.
I would be remiss if there were no journal entries revealing how wonderful my "partner" has been all the years. My wife has always been special and of late even more significant in my life. We met many years ago on the University of Illinois campus on a blind date. I was a junior and she was a freshman. Getting engaged was spontaneous. We planned our wedding so that I would have a "legitimate" excuse for not attending my graduation exercise. On June 16th (next spring), we will celebrate our 62nd wedding anniversary. I will admit that I had to look up the years.....again.
December 6-19...still no snow and none in the forecast until late in the month...very unusual...Gigi and Pounce are not doing much. We probably will not do any training except for OB skills. The last week or so was spent watching my son make some "adjustments" in the indoor swimming pool roof ventilation system. Mold was discovered (quite a bit) and that was dealt with. It was not a quick fix.
Dec 20-31...time went fast...made no entries
